What is Trim an audio file

Trimming an audio file lets you keep just the part that matters: pulling a ringtone out of your favourite song, cutting the good bit from a voice recording, preparing a sample for a project or chopping the silence off the start of a podcast. Most cut-audio sites upload your file to a server; fetchio.io does the opposite: trimming runs inside your browser with ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, so the audio never leaves your device. You set a start and an end in mm:ss and the tool cuts exactly that stretch by copying the stream without re-encoding when the format allows, so it keeps the original quality and stays fast, with no watermarks and no daily limits.

FAQ

To cut a clip out of a recording, make a ringtone from a song’s chorus, prepare a sample, or keep the useful part of a voice note. You set the start and end and the tool extracts exactly that stretch.

For most formats it doesn’t: the stream is copied without re-encoding, so the clip keeps the exact original quality and the cut is very fast. If a format can’t be cut without re-encoding, it’s re-encoded with the same codec at high quality so the result plays cleanly.

The most common ones: MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG, FLAC and similar. The trimmed file keeps the same format and extension as the original.

No. Trimming happens in your browser with ffmpeg; the audio never leaves your device. Only the engine is downloaded the first time.

fetchio.io never uploads your audio, adds no watermarks, and doesn’t cap how many clips you trim per day. Everything is free and processed in your browser.
