A scan or a photo of a document is really just an image: however much text you see, you cannot select it or search inside the file. This tool uses OCR to recognize the letters and build a searchable PDF, laying an invisible text layer right over the original image. The result looks identical to the scan, but you can select paragraphs, copy them and find words with Ctrl/Cmd+F. Unlike most online OCR services, fetchio.io never uploads your document to a server: recognition runs with tesseract.js (WebAssembly) inside your browser. The first time, the engine and language model are downloaded; after that everything is local, with no watermarks and no daily limits.
Drag the document image (JPG, PNG…) or click to choose it. Nothing is uploaded.
Choose Spanish, English or both so the OCR recognizes words and accents more accurately.
Get a PDF identical to your scan, but with text you can select and search.
It’s a PDF where you can select the text, copy it and find words with Ctrl/Cmd+F. It’s achieved by adding an (invisible) text layer over the document image, so it looks just like the scan but stops being “just a photo”.
Because a scan or photo is an image: your screen shows pixels, not characters. Until OCR recognizes the letters and adds a text layer, the file holds no real text to select or search.
Very good with clear, straight, high-contrast documents. Skewed or blurry scans and handwriting produce more errors, so it’s worth reviewing the text layer if you need exact searches.
Spanish and English, together or separately. If your document mixes both languages, pick “Both” to improve recognition of words and accents.
No. The OCR and PDF creation run with tesseract.js (WebAssembly) inside your browser; the image never leaves your device. Only the recognition engine and language model are downloaded, the first time.
